Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a Gallery Walk-based Zep Quiz as a learning medium on students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 05 Purbalingga. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely Class VIII D as the experimental group and Class VIII F as the control group, with 36 students in each class. Data were collected through a learning achievement test consisting of 20 multiple-choice items that had been validated and proven reliable. Data were analyzed using the normality test, homogeneity test, Mann–Whitney test, and Independent Samples t-test with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a mean posttest score of 84.44, while the control group obtained a mean score of 72.91. The Independent Samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.00 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. The findings demonstrate that implementing a Gallery Walk-based Zep Quiz significantly improves students' learning outcomes compared with conventional instruction. The integration of digital learning media and an active learning strategy creates a more interactive, collaborative, and student-centered learning environment, making it a promising alternative for improving learning in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education.
