Abstract

Elementary school IPAS learning is often dominated by textbooks and worksheets, which may cause students to perceive the subject as difficult and monotonous. This study aimed to develop Canva-based animated video learning media for the topic of food chains in Grade V elementary school and to determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The subjects were 12 fifth-grade students of MIS Bakti Kota Padang. Data were collected through expert validation questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, and student worksheets. The validation involved media, material, and language experts. The results showed that the developed media achieved an average validity score of 87.59%, categorized as very valid, with scores of 82.35% for media, 93.75% for material, and 86.67% for language. The teacher practicality assessment reached 93.57%, categorized as very practical, while the student effectiveness assessment reached 83.96%, categorized as very effective. Therefore, the Canva-based animated video learning media is valid, practical, and effective for supporting IPAS learning, particularly on food chain material, in Grade V elementary school.
