Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of the “Si Rama” (Siklus dalam Diorama) media in the IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) subject to improve the learning outcomes of Grade III students regarding animal life cycles at SD Negeri Dukuh Kupang II/489 Surabaya. The study employed Classroom Action Research conducted over two cycles. The subjects consisted of 25 students from Grade III. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests in each cycle, alongside observations of the learning process and media usage. The success indicators are set at a minimum completeness level of 80%. In Cycle I, instruction did not utilize the “Si Rama” media; the average pre-test score was 60 with a 36% mastery rate, while the average post-test score was 70 with a 64% mastery rate. In Cycle II, “Si Rama” media was used as a learning medium alongside preserved specimens representing the stages of butterfly metamorphosis. The average pre-test score reached 79 with an 80% mastery rate, while the average post-test score reached 86 with an 88% mastery rate. The findings indicate an improvement in learning outcomes at every stage of measurement. The diorama-style medium allowed students to observe the sequence of animal life cycles in a concrete manner, while the preserved butterfly metamorphosis specimens provided direct visual access to the egg, caterpillar, pupa, and butterfly stages. The results establish Si Rama as a relevant concrete-visual medium for teaching animal life cycles within the Grade III IPAS curriculum.
