Main Article Content
Abstract
Learning motivation is an important factor influencing students’ success in mathematics learning. Low learning motivation may lead to limited student participation, reduced self-confidence, and difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts. One instructional model considered capable of enhancing students’ learning motivation is Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This study aims to describe the mathematics learning motivation of Phase F students at SMA Ekasakti Padang following instruction using the Problem-Based Learning method. This article adopts a descriptive approach by examining various theories of learning motivation and the implementation of Problem-Based Learning in mathematics instruction. The findings indicate that PBL provides students with opportunities to actively discover concepts, engage in discussions, collaborate with peers, and solve problems related to real-life situations. These learning experiences contribute to increased curiosity, self-confidence, responsibility, and enthusiasm for learning. Therefore, Problem-Based Learning can serve as an alternative instructional approach to enhancing mathematics learning motivation among Phase F students at SMA Ekasakti Padang.
