Abstract

Maintenance of the screw conveyor at the Packing Plant of PT Semen Padang is examined through component condition, preventive maintenance practices, and the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) as a basis for maintenance optimization. Data were collected through component observation, interviews with operators and maintenance technicians, and measurements of screw conveyor speed and electric motor current before and after preventive maintenance. The observed components included the screw, housing, shaft, bearing, gearbox, and electric motor. The observation results showed that the main screw conveyor components were generally in good condition, although cement material deposits were found on the screw and housing. The measurement results showed that the screw conveyor speed increased from 69.2 rpm to 70.8 rpm, while the electric motor current decreased from 15.6 A to 14.2 A after cleaning. These changes indicate an improvement in operating conditions following preventive maintenance. TPM implementation was carried out through planned maintenance activities and operator involvement in inspection and cleaning. However, inspection checklists, maintenance documentation, and periodic evaluation still need to be improved. Maintenance optimization is proposed through the preparation of inspection checklists, improved maintenance documentation, and periodic maintenance evaluation to maintain screw conveyor reliability.
