The Legal Politics of Human Rights Protection in Law Enforcement Policy in Indonesia
Main Article Content
Abstract
Law enforcement against various gross human rights violations requires a legal policy from the government. This legal policy is important because it reflects the stance and will of the ruling government regarding the consistent formulation of laws and the enforcement of existing laws. The protection of human rights is a fundamental element of Indonesia’s constitutional law. Although it is constitutionally enshrined in the 1945 Constitution and a number of laws, the implementation of human rights protection still faces various challenges, including discrimination, violence by state officials, and inconsistencies in legal policy. This study aims to understand how the legal policy on human rights protection has evolved in Indonesia and the objectives behind the utilization of this legal policy itself. The research method adopted is a normative legal approach. The study is descriptive in nature, providing an overview and critical analysis of the subject matter and drawing conclusions. Data sources consist of secondary sources, such as books and regulations. The analysis employs a qualitative approach.
